Cartoon Tourist Views

An amusing variety of Plastichrome postcard views were made by Colourpicture in the late 1950s and early 1960s. I call these postcards "Cartoon Tourist Views" because they have cartoons of "tourists" superimposed on regular chrome views. I have heard them referred to as "Hi Folks" because that expression is used on a number of the cards. Many of the same views can be found without the cartoon (examples are the Nicollet Avenue and Foshay Tower views from Minneapolis shown below).

The cartoons are usually, but not always, black and white. The same cartoons are used, where appropriate, on different views. Examples of cartoons used multiple times are the planes with a couple perched on top, couples viewed from several angles, and couples seeing their home town from a tall building or monument.

This is a list of Plastichrome cartoon tourist views that I know about. Some I have. Others I have just seen as an image or on a list.
